The Spirit of Christ has been revealing much about those things which are coming upon the nations and upon the church. As I have been traveling across the nation the Spirit has been bring me clarity concerning certain aspects of those things which are at hand. Let me begin by sharing a few basic concepts in order to facilitate understanding.
The Harlot and the Beast System
Revelation 17:3-5, 16-17
And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names... And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality, and upon her forehead a name was written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH...” and the beast... will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire. For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose...
The harlot that rides upon the beast is the Christian religious system that is also called Babylon. The name Babylon denotes confusion and mixture. The kings of Babylon conquered many people and nations. They allowed the people to continue to worship their gods, but they led them to adopt many other gods in addition to the ones they knew.
When Israel and Samaria were conquered by the Assyrians, and Judah and Jerusalem were conquered by Babylon much idolatry and confusion was introduced. Alongside the worship of Yahweh there was introduced the worship of many other gods.
II Kings 17:30-33
And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima, and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim. They also feared Yahweh and appointed from among themselves priests of the high places, who acted for them in the houses of the high places. They feared Yahweh and served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from among whom they had been carried away into exile.
The church today has repeated the error of Israel and Judah. The people of God have been espoused to Christ as pure virgins (II Corinthians 11:2), but they have become harlots in their affections. The church has lusted after the idols of the nations in which they dwell. In America there are many idols, including the love of money, of pleasure, of entertainment, ease and comfort. The church has gone whoring in her affections, yet she says she fears Yahweh.
This confusion and mixture is observed everywhere today. Christ said that no man could serve God and mammon, yet the church in America has adopted many false doctrines which declare that Christ’s words were a lie. Many shepherds have arisen to herd swine rather than sheep. A people who can discern the difference between truth and error, but who do not love the truth, preferring a lie of prosperity ease and comfort to Christ’s message of the cross, have transformed themselves from sheep into swine. There is an important parable of the state of the church found in one of the miracles of Christ.
Yahshua crossed with His disciples in a boat to the land of the Gerasenes (Gadarenes). There He met a man filled with many demons. The name given by the demons was legion, for there were many. Christ cast the demons out of the man and they begged to enter into a herd of swine which were being tended by herdsmen. Christ gave the demons permission, and in this event we see a great parable of the current church age.
The Scriptures reveal that there were “about two thousand” swine, and this is a parable that there would be “about two thousand years” when the kingdom of God would be depicted as swine who are inhabited by demons and who are destined to run headlong into the sea of death. I have spoken at length of this parable in the presentation titled Parables, which can be viewed online at Google Video. A link to the video can be found on the Heart4God website:
http://www.heart4god.ws/id690.htm
Many Christians today are offended at the suggestion that the church age would be typified by a herd of swine tended by swine herders. Yet the Scriptures reveal in many ways that this would indeed be the character of the church during the two thousand years following Christ. There would only be a “little flock” of overcoming saints, while there would at the same time be multitudes of swine and swine herders.
This fact of the pollution and mixture of the church age is brought out in the parables of Christ. He said the kingdom of God would be like leaven that was mixed into three pecks of meal until it was thoroughly leavened (Mark 13). Leaven symbolizes sin, and the affect of the leaven increases over time until it reaches its zenith at the end of the age.
Christ compared the kingdom of God to a mustard tree that grows up into the largest bush in the garden and in which the birds come and nest in its branches (Mark 13). The birds of the air are symbolic of Satan and his demons and emissaries.
Christ compared the kingdom age to a field of wheat in which an enemy sowed tares (Mark 13). The tares represent false Christians and false disciples, and Christ declared that it was an enemy (Satan) who sowed the tares there.
The apostle Paul declared that the last days of the church would be typified by men who are “lovers of pleasure, lovers of self... rather than lovers of God.” He said that the church would heap up to itself teachers (swine herders) to tickle their ears and tell them the things they want to hear. Swine do not love truth, as is symbolized in the fac that they do not chew the cud. Swine do not have any appreciation for pearls of truth, and will turn and rend those who cast pearls before them.
In the miracle at Gadara we read that the swine herders fled in fear at the presence of Christ, and all their herds were lost to death in the sea. This is also the fate of those who follow preachers of confusion and mixture in this hour. For this reason the Spirit has persistently been proclaiming an urgent message to the people of God.
Revelation 18:4
Come out of her, my people, that you may not participate in her sins and that you may not receive of her plagues...
Come out of Babylon! Come out of confusion and mixture. Come out of the pigpens of the Christian religious system where much that is impure and defiled is served up week after week to a people who once were able to discern truth from error, but lost their sensitivity for the impure fodder of an apostate religious system looked so attractive to them. There have been few who have had the heart of Daniel and his three friends, refusing to defile themselves with the meat of Babylon.
The harlot then is Babylon, and she is impure even as swine are impure. The harlot glorifies herself, and lives luxuriously, sating herself as a pig would do, living to gratify the appetites of the flesh. Rather than subduing and ruling over the beasts (Genesis 1:28), the harlot has seated herself upon the beast.
The Beast system is typified by the governments of this fallen world system that is under the dominion of Satan. Daniel spoke of numerous images of beasts that he was shown in visions and dreams. He tells us clearly that these beasts represent kingdoms of this earth.
Daniel 8:20-21
“The ram which you saw with the two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia. And the shaggy goat represents the kingdom of Greece...”
The Spirit has been testifying that America is a beast nation, given into the hands of a beast ruler. The day the election results were announced proclaiming Barack Obama as the next President of the United States, the pick three lottery from Obama’s home state of Illinois came out as 6-6-6. Indeed, this man won the lottery. He was given the prize of ruling over a beast kingdom.
This image was further revealed when it was announced that the Secret Service had prepared a brand new limousine for the President to ride in. This heavily armored vehicle was nicknamed by the Secret Service “The Beast.” Vehicles represent ministries, and the ministry entrusted to Barack Obama was to be ruler of a Beast System.
There are many swine herders among the church today who find it very attractive to yoke themselves to the beast system of this fallen world. As the harlot is depicted riding on the back of the beast in Revelation, so too does the church today ride on the back of the world system. This was profoundly demonstrated in the news not long ago.
Barack Obama is well known to be a champion of abominations. He is an advocate of homosexuality and a staunch promoter of the most despicable forms of abortion (they are all abominations). This man invited a homosexual clergyman to pray at his inaugural festivities.
All this corruption did not trouble Rick Warren, who is pictured to the right of Barack Obama above. The two are seen at a forum hosted by Warren’s megachurch in California. Rick Warren was invited to give the invocation during Obama’s inauguration, and was happy to yoke himself to this man who calls evil good, and good evil.
Note the symbol of Warren’s church behind the head of the President. It appears that horns are arising from his head. Yet what is most symbolic is the name of Warren’s church. The church is called “Saddleback.” Truly the harlot is riding on the back of the beast, and Yahweh is revealing these things that the wise might have understanding.
It is great folly for the people of God to embrace the Beast System of this fallen world. Those who do so will suffer the fate spoken of in the book of Revelation.
“and the beast... will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire. For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose...”
It is a great parable in this hour that an epidemic called by the name “swine flu” is stirring up fear in many hearts. Just before I sat down to write this post a sister sent me a link to a news item on the swine flu. The nation of Egypt has issued order to slaughter all swine in the nation as a preventive measure to keep this disease out of their country. It was mentioned in the article that 90% of Egypt is Muslim and does not eat pork. The only ones who eat pork in Egypt are the Christians who comprise 10% of the population.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090429/ap_on_he_me/ml_egypt_swine_flu
Egypt is a symbol of the world. Only Christians have the ability to discern between the holy and the profane, for such distinctions belong to those who are partakers of the HOLY Spirit of Christ. Yet Christianity does not love the truth and consequently have become as swine, and at this time Yahweh will pour forth His plagues upon the harlot, Babylon, who has become as a swine in His sight. Those who have refused to come out of Babylon have much to fear, but the righteous need not fear.
This event, and many coming events, will be used of God to make a division among His people. Those appointed to salvation will find themselves being led in troublous days to cast themselves wholly over into the hands of God. They will be led to trust Yahweh for their health, for their safety, for their food and shelter, and for all things. Yet a great multitude will be led into the embrace of the Beast System.
The Beast System will present itself as an ark of safety and refuge for all mankind in very dark days. Those who do not know the voice of God will run into this systems embrace, urged on by ministers who serve as herders of swine. These ministers will tell the people that it is the will of God that they flee into the arms of the Beast, and the Beast himself will be depicted as a savior and messiah.
See the following blog to see how much work has already gone into building an image of Obama as savior to mankind.
http://parablesblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/barack-hussein-obama-antichrist.html
People of God, the hour is very late. Multitude will find themselves in the valley of decision in coming days. Terrors will be on every hand, and these frightful things will be used to herd mankind into the full embrace of the Beast system which is found in the governments of this world. Those who are driven by fear will risk running headlong into the sea of death.
We live in an hour when all the saints of God must distinguish between the voices that arise from their own soul, and the voice of the Spirit of Christ. The saints are to be led by faith, not driven by fear. The Scriptures declare that “faith arises out of hearing, and hearing comes by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).
As saints, we must wait patiently to hear a word from God, and then we must quickly obey what Yahweh speaks to us. In this way we will be able to abide in a place of peace when all the world around us is shaking.
I have heard from some who are hearing the voice of the alarmists who are inciting much fear and causing stormy waves to begin to arise in the souls of many. It is difficult to remain at peace when our eyes are upon the wind and the waves. We must place our eyes upon Christ, then we will be able to walk upon the water and the stormy waves will be under our feet.
Yahweh would have His people to discern the parables that are being given in the events occurring all around. At the same time He would have them to not be driven by fear, but to walk by faith.
It is my hope and prayer that those appointed to salvation in this last hour would enter into the true ark of safety, which is God. Do not allow yourselves to be driven as a herd of swine into the arms of the Beast system. That path leads only to the sea of death.
May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days.

Swine Judgment
Joseph Herrin (04-27-09)
Yahweh would have His people to understand the spiritual significance of the current swine flu outbreak. The Scriptures reveal that there will be an outbreak of plagues in the last days prior to the appearing of Christ (Luke 21:11, numerous references in Revelations). As Yahweh brings judgment to the nations and to His people, distresses of all kinds will increase as His grace is removed. Among these distresses will be plagues that will kill millions of people and will cast a great many into beds of sickness.
The judgments of God will begin at His own house, and the plagues will be found among His own people. The following words are written to the people of God.
Revelation 2:21-23
“And I gave her time to repent; and she does not want to repent of her immorality. Behold, I will cast her upon a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. And I will kill her children with pestilence; and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts...”
For many years the Spirit has been urging the people of God to come out of all of spiritual Babylon. Babylon is characterized by idolatry and mixture. A people who have attempted to serve God and mammon, who have sought to love God and love the world at the same time, who have named the name of Christ while living to satisfy their carnal appetites, will be judged. For this reason the Spirit has been entreating the saints to come out of all mixture that they might not become partakers of the judgments to be poured out.
Revelation 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her , my people, that you may not participate in her sins and that you may not receive of her plagues...”
Notice that the word plagues is the word used to describe the various judgments that God will pour forth upon Babylon. Included in these plagues are pestilences, which include diseases and mental and physical afflictions of all kinds. All who are found participating in the sins of Babylon will receive of these plagues.
Swine flu is a particularly symbolic plague, and it should give the Christian reason to pause and consider deeply the things coming upon the earth and their own exposure to the plagues being released. In the presentation titled Parables, which I was led by the Spirit to share with the saints last night in Sierra Vista, Arizona, I have spoken of the parable of the pig. Christ compared certain men to swine, and He admonished His disciples to not cast their pearls of truth and purity before swine-like men, for such ones have no appreciation for that which is holy and will turn and rend those who cast pearls before them.
To understand what characteristics identify men as swine-like beasts, we need only look to the Scriptures. In the Old Testament Yahweh gave two criteria by which all animals were to be judged. All clean animals had to have a split hoof and to chew the cud. Both of these criteria serve as deep spiritual principles.
The split hoof is a picture of being able to divide between truth and error, between right and wrong. Chewing the cud is a picture of meditating on truth.
Another term for chewing the cud is ruminate, and we often use this word to speak of a person chewing on a thought or idea. Chewing the cud spiritually represents someone who loves the truth and who will therefore chew on what they have received, seeking to derive all the benefit from it.
The pig meets one criteria for a clean animal, but fails in the other. The pig has a split hoof, but he does not chew the cud. This is a picture of the worst type of person, for it speaks of a person who has the ability to discern truth from error, but they do not love the truth, so they do not derive the benefit from the truth they have received.
A great many Christians in this hour are as swine in the eyes of God. Being partakers of the Holy Spirit they have the ability to discern between truth and error, right and wrong, the holy and the profane. In this sense they have a split hoof. Yet, these ones have no love for the truth. They do not hold onto the truths of God. They do not ruminate on that which God delivers to them. Having impure appetites, the things of God pass through them quickly, and they also feed on many unclean things. This is a characteristic of Babylon, and many swine dwell in spiritual Babylon. They feed on the holy and the profane, and although they have the ability to distinguish between the two, they do not love truth enough to make the effort required to do so.
The Scriptures declare:
I Peter 4:17-18
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner?
The current swine flu outbreak is a parable of the judgment of God upon those men and women who are typified by swine. Yahweh requires purity among His people. He is demanding in this hour that His people turn away from Babylon. Those who participate in the sins of Babylon will partake of her plagues.
Let those who have ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is testifying.

Thorns in the Desert - Part 2
Joseph Herrin (04-24-09)
Pin Cushion Cacti
The Father has been speaking much concerning the days ahead and what they hold for the saints of God. There is a wilderness experience appointed to Yahweh’s people. Yahweh has for varying periods of time been leading a forerunning people through a wilderness to humble them and teach them His ways as His character is formed in them. These must now go through a second wilderness experience in order to lead forth a called out remnant through similar experiences where their flesh is reduced in order that the life of Christ might come forth within them.
The Spirit of Christ has been testifying that what is to occur is after the pattern of Moses who led the Israelites through the wilderness. Moses first spent forty years in the wilderness to be humbled. At the end of this period Yahweh appeared to Moses at the burning bush and commissioned him to lead forth the people of God through a similar forty year period.
Much can be discerned from the account of this event. What was recorded was written for the benefit of the saint today.
I Corinthians 10:11
Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
One thing that comes forth clearly in the account of Israel’s departure from Egypt to journey in the wilderness is that although the people were suddenly taken from Egypt, Egypt was still in their hearts. Egypt is symbolic of the world. Egypt was a land that appealed to the flesh. There was abundant water and food and a very sensual society. There was much that appealed to the flesh of man, and we see that when the Israelites were faced with the alternative of a wilderness experience that they often considered that it would be better to return to Egypt and submit to being enslaved once more.
Nehemiah 9:16-17
"But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments. And they refused to listen, and did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You had performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt.”
Time and again we read of Moses contending with a stubborn people whose fleshly appetites led them to be very surly and often rebellious. It took forty years to reduce this carnal people to the place where they were willing to obey Yahweh without grumbling or complaint. Although the generation of God’s people above the age of 20 all died in the wilderness (except Joshua and Caleb), all those 20 and below were shaped and transformed by the experiences of the wilderness and were prepared to enter into their inheritance.
Similarly, it will be those who are more childlike who will pass through the wilderness ahead successfully, while those who are proud, willful and set in their ways will find that they will either die in the wilderness or return to world, forsaking the God who called them.
Those who enter into the wilderness will find that there are many thorny things growing there. Many of the people of God will manifest great fleshliness and will give into complaint, murmuring and even angry and hostile words and actions at times. This will necessitate that the mature among them exercise much humility and patience, understanding that God was very patient with them and they should manifest the same grace toward others.
Although Moses was declared by God to be the humblest man upon the face of the earth, we often read of him “waxing hot” in his anger as he encountered the stony hearts of the people of God. There is a further refining that God’s pioneers must experience as they go through the wilderness a second time. They will learn to bear the burden of Yahweh who contends daily with a stubborn and rebellious people who are slow to learn His ways and to submit to His will. This will lead to a deeper understanding of the heart of the Father, and this Father’s heart will be formed in them.
The way will certainly be thorny, for the plants of the desert symbolize those people who grow in wilderness places. One must be careful in all their dealings with life in the wilderness.

When one has a close encounter with the thorny things that grow in the desert, it is advisable to not respond with haste. To respond too quickly to some barb will result in injury and further entanglement. One should instead slow down, carefully consider the matter, and then take calm and measured steps to avoid unnecessary pain and suffering. A soft answer turns away wrath, and a man of humility and peace will be gentle when another desert dweller manifests personal barbs and seeks to jab at him with words or actions.
When all is said and done, Yahweh will have exposed many stony hearts in the desert. They will be removed from the flesh of man even as rocks arise from the sparse soil of the desert.
Stony Ground
Yahweh will then replace the stony hearts with a heart of flesh, and beautiful things will arise in wilderness places.
Ezekiel 36:26-27
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”
Those pioneers and explorers who have gone before their brothers into a wilderness experience should anticipate that they will have to deal with many people in coming days who have not yet been refined by the wilderness. The wilderness will humble many, but until humility comes there will be an abundance of thorns in the wilderness. Let us ask Yahweh for His grace that we might manifest the fruit of His own humble and patient character.
May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days.

Thorns in the Desert - Part 1
Joseph Herrin (04-23-09)
The Father continues to bless me with great fellowship among the saints as I travel across the nation. For the past couple days I have been staying with Randy and Kathy Furman in the desert outside of Arizona. Randy and Kathy are true Christian pioneers. They have been following the leading of the Spirit for many years and were led to purchase 40 acres of desert land where they have been building their own home stick by stick. They have chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and gardens. Their water is trucked in as they do not have a well, so conservation is a necessity.
Things that are taken for granted by a majority of Americans are precious in the desert. This fact is itself a great parable. Yahweh took a nation out of Egypt many years ago to teach them to value what is truly important. A people who fed on flesh and knew the abundance of the Nile River’s waters learned to appreciate the Bread of heaven and the water from the rock.
I Corinthians 10:3-4
All ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
Yahweh has led a forerunning group of saints into wilderness places in order to produce in them that which is precious. These ones will in turn serve as guides and ministers to a larger remnant who must shortly embark upon the same journey. The purpose of the wilderness is declared by Yahweh in the following Scripture.
Deuteronomy 8:2-3
And you shall remember that Yahweh your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of Yahweh.
I have been greatly blessed to take walks across the land around the Furman’s home. As I have, the Spirit has been speaking to me parables of the desert. I have noted that nothing grows very tall in the desert. This is due to the scarcity of water. Yahweh said that He let the Israelites know thirst that He might humble them. A lack of water humbles even the plants of the desert.
The word humble comes from the same root as the word humus. Humus is soil, and the word humble speaks of that which is lowly, that which is close to the ground. A person is at times referred to as “down to earth,” indicating that he/she is not proud or extravagant, but they are humble and manifesting good sense. Humility truly is good sense in God’s eyes.
James 4:6
Therefore it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Below is a picture of a Juniper tree. I placed Kathy’s walking stick next to it to demonstrate the scale.
A tree of 15 feet height would be considered tall in such an arid land. You will not find the proud and stately sequoia in the desert. They require far too much water and a cooler climate. The desert produces that which is humble, and it is for this reason that Yahweh will lead His remnant through a wilderness experience in coming days. He must have humble sons and daughters, for this is the character of His dear Son.
Isaiah 53:2-3
For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Christ is compared to a plant growing out of parched soil. Such plants are not stately in form, nor are they majestic. They are humble, and so too was the Son of God.
Will not the Father use the same experiences to shape all those sons and daughters who are destined to be conformed to the image of Christ? Will He not let them know desert times when their flesh is not satisfied, and the appetites are not fulfilled? He will teach His remnant to be content to live only for His will and pleasure, finding their satisfaction in doing the will of the Father.
I have had the pleasure of meeting with a number of saints whom I know have been learning the contentment of little. These are not the stately, impressive men and women that the church parades across their stages, full of the success and possessions of the world. They have not outward appearance that men should desire them. Yet in the eyes of God they are exceedingly precious.
An hour is at hand when God will raise up a body of humble sons and daughters. They will be exceedingly precious in His sight, though scorned by the world and a worldly church. They will be trained in the same way that God trained the Israelites many years ago. Yahweh will lead them to depart from Egypt which serves as a symbol of the world. They will be directed to put aside an appetite for fleshly things and to feed on that which comes from heaven.
Many will find the adjustment hard. Some will cry out for flesh to eat, remembering the things that they once had in days of abundance when they lived in the world and were not walking as aliens and strangers as God intended. Most Christians have been in the world and embracing all its values, but God in His mercy will lead them out that they might embrace His values. He greatly esteems humility and obedience.
I pray that those who read this blog might heed the call of God. When the Spirit woos you to lay aside all attachment to this world, may you find the courage and desire to obey. Many will refuse to come out of Egypt. They will find the path God chooses to be too lowly and will despise it even as the world viewed Christ and His life in the same way.
The Son of God had no castle. He had no glorious home or great possessions. He walked as a vagrant and a pilgrim across the land. He sought only to do the will of the Father. So too must all seek the same goal if they are to be numbered among the overcomers on that day.

Meetings Update
Joseph Herrin (04-23-09)
Picture taken near Sheridan, Wyoming near the Bighorn Mountains.
Yesterday I started the day east of the Rocky Mountains where a jacket was advisable. Last night as I drove through Las Vegas a bank sign reported the temperature at 95 degrees at 8:00 P.M.. What a difference a day makes!
Let me share with you briefly about the meeting in Rapid City, South Dakota Saturday the 18th. There really are not enough superlatives to describe the experience. I knew in my own life that Yahweh was preparing me for a very special time from early that morning when the Daugherty’s and I met to share communion and to pray. The Father renewed some precious promises in my life that day with great force. He showed me that a season of restoration is upon those who have been stripped of many things in recent years. Those who have willingly walked out into the wilderness in obedience to the leading of the Spirit of Christ, leaving Egypt behind, will find that Yahweh is restoring much in coming days. Financial provision will be loosed. Relationships will be restored. Health will improve, and there will be a fulfillment of the words of Joel.
Joel 2:23-25
Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you - the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.
I do not want to publicly speak of the specific things the Father spoke to me that day that He would restore, but I can say that the promise is very precious to me. The way in which Yahweh declared it through this meeting of the saints was very dramatic and unmistakable to me.
I was not alone in receiving a promise of restoration as Yahweh indicated to one brother who has been on a long journey of wilderness travail that his health is about to be restored. The Father indicated this just as we were about to part from one another on Sunday morning.
Yahweh did such a profound job of hand picking those whom He desired to attend the meeting. One young couple, Jamie and Valerie DeWitt, had just become acquainted with my website and teachings two days before the meeting. They immediately sensed the witness of the Spirit upon one message after another as they exclaimed that here was another person who was saying the same things the Spirit had been testifying to them. Surely this is a precious experience when one has felt like they were completely misunderstood by others for a long season, and they could find no one else who was hearing the same things.
Valerie shared that on Friday she thought to get on the Internet and see where it is that I would be traveling. Her son was looking on and informed her that I was to be in Wyoming. He then said that I was coming to Rapid City, South Dakota. He further exclaimed that I would be there the very next day.
I have never been in Rapid City before. How precious it is when God so orders our steps to bring us together at the moment of His choosing. What were the chances of God leading this precious couple to the Parables and Heart4God websites just before I visited their town? In meeting them it was abundantly clear that our Father intended for us all to meet.
There were other connections made that day, and I am confident that all those who came to the home of Chuck and Sherry Wendling that day have just begun to experience the fruit of the relationships formed. This too seems to be one more thing the Father is restoring in this hour as some who have been without fellowship for long periods are being brought together in this season with like-minded believers from among Christ’s scattered remnant. I have been much reminded of the following Scripture as I have traveled.
Jeremiah 3:14-15
And I will take you one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding.
The things we shared among one another Saturday were exceedingly precious. There was a profound sense of peace and love among us and it gives me a great anticipation of what the body will be in her appearance when Yahweh raises it back up in a purified condition. There is yet much wilderness to be traversed, but the glorious hope that awaits all who follow the Lord wherever He would lead them far surpasses any trials that await Christ’s remnant.
Today I will be arriving at the home of Randy and Kathy Furman in Kingman, Arizona. Some brothers will be traveling to Kingman from Las Vegas to visit with us sometime between today and Thursday, and if there are other saints in the area who desire to come they are welcome.
On Friday the Furmans will be traveling with me to the Grand Canyon. This will be a great treat for me. We plan on camping there that night and then leaving early Saturday morning to meet with the saints in the home of Dan and Sharlene Clark. Following is the meeting information for all who desire to attend.

This will likely be an evening meeting on a date between April 27th to April 29th.
A final note for those writing me via e-mail at this time. Due to my travels I have very little time for e-mail correspondence at this season, and my blog postings have also been limited. I have very much been blessed by the opportunity the Father gives me to speak to the saints via e-mail, but He is filling my time with other assignments in this hour. Please understand if I do not write back promptly.
I do hope to have a season soon to begin writing some more posts. The Spirit is filling my heart with many messages that are born out of my travels. I can see a series on the Pioneer Spirit taking shape within me. There is also MUCH that is transpiring in the world at this hour. The time of great trouble is close at hand and the people of God need to walk closely to the Father to be prepared and positioned for the coming days.
May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days.

Road Signs - Part 4
Joseph Herrin (04-16-09)
There are some things the Spirit is communicating to me along this trip across the nation. I am continually reminded that the Father has not sent me out to the masses of Christendom, but to a remnant who are destined to come forth as overcomers in these last days. Some time back I wrote an article titled That I Lose None. In it I stated the following:
The heart of Yahshua is the heart of a perfect Son. A perfect Son is consumed with the dreams of His Father, and He yearns to see them fulfilled. Christ always had in focus those things which were the Father’s will and pleasure.
John 6:39-40
“This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."
In the mind of the Father He sees the total number of those appointed to sonship. He has determined the precise number of the righteous who will attain to the first resurrection from the dead, being the firstborn among the creation. He does not want any of this appointed number to be lost, yearning that they might ALL be raised up on the last day of this present age.
Christ ever kept in mind the number of those appointed to salvation in this age, and He labored to not lose a single one of them.
Matthew 18:14
It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.
The Lord sought to instill this same passionate focus in the minds and hearts of His apostles. After His resurrection Peter and a number of the disciples went fishing. They had labored all night and had caught nothing. In the morning as they were some distance from shore they saw the Lord on the beach. He told them to cast their net over on the right side of the boat, and the nets surrounded a great catch of 153 large fish.
Earlier in the ministry of Christ the disciples experienced a similar event, and their nets began to break, and fish were lost. This time the outcome was different. Their nets did not tear, and they hauled every single fish in the net to shore, losing nothing.
John 21:11
Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.
One hundred and fifty-three is a very precise number. It is not an estimate, nor is it rounded off. It is an exact tally of the number of fish in the net, and none were lost.
Christ was seeking to reveal to His disciples a profound truth. God has determined in His mind the exact number of His sons to come to maturity in this age. He has known them from before the creation of the earth, and has called each of them by name.
[End Excerpt]
As I have been traveling I have been aware that it is a remnant to which the Father is sending me. He has not sent me to speak to the multitudes who are dull of hearing. He has appointed me to encourage and strengthen His sons and daughters who are willing to count the cost of discipleship and to pay the cost.
As I was in Fort Wayne, Indiana the Lord provided a remarkable testimony to this. I had been introduced to a brother in Christ via the Internet, and I had never met him face to face. Patty Hunt on Long Island was well acquainted with this brother in Christ, and she much wanted the two of us to meet. I also discerned this to be the will of the Father. I invited this brother in Christ to meet me for lunch.
On my way to meet him I was stopped at a red light in Fort Wayne when the Spirit drew my attention to the license number of the car in front of me. I was so impressed that the Spirit was speaking something that I took a picture of the car.
I sensed that the Lord was proclaiming to me that the man I was to meet was one of those symbolized by the 153 fish in the nets of the disciples. I became convinced of it when the Lord reminded me of the name of the man I was to meet. His last name is Fish.
This man was also considerably taller than me. He was indeed a “large fish.”
John 21:11
Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three...
By such things the Spirit has reminded me that His focus is not upon large numbers of people in this hour. He has set His eye upon those who are appointed for salvation, and it is His will that none of these be lost.
Along the way I have also found that many people with whom I am meeting have embraced a variety of doctrines. Some of these doctrines I know to be error, for the Spirit of Christ has instructed me in many areas and led me to understand things that He has set His seal upon.
As I have met with these saints I have not been led to discourse with them on a wide variety of doctrines. I have sensed the Spirit bearing witness that it is not His will that I be drawn into discussions that are outside of His will for this time, but that I remain focused upon what He sent me to proclaim.
Recently I wrote a blog titled The Called Out. In it I shared the following:
Many people who say they are Christ-ians (members of Christ), part of Yahshua’s body, are yet walking in the mindset of the Greeks (Gentiles, nations), or the mindset of the Jews. The Scriptures readily identify for us the distinct mindset of each of these three groups. You can tell which one you have embraced by examining your life and beliefs. Many Christians are so by confession, but not by profession. They say they belong to Christ, but they are not living as those who are called out from among the Greeks and Jews.
Following are the three overriding characteristics by which we might identify each group.
Greeks esteem Knowledge
Jews esteem Signs
Christ (both the Head and the body) esteem the Cross...
Paul said he was sent to proclaim “the cross of Christ.” This phrase inseparably establishes a link between the cross and Christ. We must ever keep in mind that the cross of Christ is not a reference limited to the cross of Yahshua. It is a reference to the cross that belongs to all who are members of Christ.
Matthew 16:24
Then Yahshua said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
Mark 8:34
And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
Luke 9:23-24
And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
There is a cross appointed to ALL who are Christ, both the Head and the body of Christ. Those who are truly disciples of Christ will be linked to, and identified by, the cross. The cross is the instrument of victory and transformation for all who belong to Christ...
To the world and a worldly church the disciple’s cross appears as something weak and detestable, but to those who are a part of Christ the cross is the power of God to transform a fleshly creature into a spiritual being.
• Christians with a Greek mindset today seek wisdom and view the disciple’s cross as foolishness.
• Christians with a Jewish mindset esteem power and view the cross as an offense.
• Disciples of Christ who have been called out (ekklessia) from the Greek and Jewish nations see the cross as the wisdom and the power of God.
All Christians fall into one of these three groups. It is the smallest number of the people of God who have embraced the cross, seeing the necessity and the wisdom of it. Most Christians are pursuing knowledge or signs, or both APART FROM THE CROSS. This is folly, and must be corrected in this last hour...
Christians who esteem wisdom and knowledge while rejecting the disciple’s cross fail to attain to the form of Christ. Christ LEARNED from SUFFERING and so to must all who are part of Christ.
Hebrews 5:8
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.
These parallel phrases should never be disconnected.
He learned...
He suffered...
Many Christians today are pursuing learning while doing everything they can to avoid suffering. Their knowledge is therefore distorted, corrupted, and full of error.

As I have been traveling the Lord has borne witness to me that He would have me proclaim the cross of Christ. When the people of God embrace the cross appointed to all disciples of Christ, their doctrine will begin to correct itself. Erroneous doctrine often comes from esteeming knowledge while rejecting the cross. The solution to this is not to merely refute the error, but to bring the child of God to embrace the cross, apart from which none can be perfected.
I have found a remarkable consistency among those saints who are following the path of the cross. They have far more agreement in their doctrines. The crucified life has brought them to a place of dividing between soul and spirit, and they have recognized much that was soulish in their beliefs and have been led to the truth by the Spirit of Christ.
For those who are called to teach the saints in these days, the role of the cross should ever be kept in mind when they begin to address doctrinal errors.
May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days.

Update and Meeting Schedule
I had a wonderful meeting near Fort Wayne, Indiana in the home of Andrew and Kasie Eberly. Our meeting was held on the first day of Passover, and, without any human coordination, various people were led to provide portions of the Passover meal. I will remember this as a very precious time when the Spirit met with us. I was blessed to meet brothers and sisters that have been purchased with the blood of Christ.
I traveled 1,300 miles over the course of two days to Sheridan, Wyoming where I am currently staying in the home of Brad, Jaylene and Brodie Daugherty. The fellowship has been very precious for all of us. Today Brad and I drove out through the country and took a hike in the Big Horn Mountains. The scenery was spectacular.
I have been mindful of the beauty of Yahweh’s creation on my journey. The entire creation bears witness of the presence of God. His presence is observed in a myriad of remarkable testimonies. There were small flowers bravely standing out on hills in patches where the snow had recently melted away. We saw many antelope and deer outside Sheridan, and the mountains and sky provided a wonderful panorama against which to view all things.
Meeting Schedule: Chuck and Sherry Wendling have invited me to speak at a meeting in their home in Rapid City, South Dakota. This will be my next meeting.
Date:
Saturday, April 18th
Time:
First Session: 3:00 P.M.
Lasagna Supper: 6:00 P.M.
Second Session: 7:00 P.M.
Location:
3716 Arizona Avenue
Rapid City, South Dakota
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
From South Dakota I will be traveling to Arizona where I will be meeting in three different cities; Kingman, Strawberry (outside Phoenix) and possibly Tucson. From there I will be traveling through New Mexico and Texas where several more meetings will be held. I will post the details as they become available.

Road Signs - Part 3
Joseph Herrin (04-08-09)
Note: A new audio file from the recent meeting in Schenectady, New York is now available. I highly recommend this audio message to any saints who desire to know what God is speaking to His people in this hour. Each meeting has a different emphasis as the Spirit of Christ directs, and there was considerable interaction between myself and the six women who gathered in the home of Mary Jane Hammerle and her daughter Elizabeth. It was a blessed time.

Road Signs - Part 3
Yahweh has directed me to travel across this nation at this hour to tell the saints what must shortly befall them. He has called me to tell them that days of great tribulation lie ahead.
My first meeting on this trip across America was in New York City on Long Island. I believe there are a number of reasons why God began my trip there. New York is the queen city of America. It is the financial center of the United States as well as the media center. This city leads the nation in many ways, and consequently judgment must also begin there.
On my visit to New York City I was blessed to spend a day touring Manhattan with two men from Long Island. Cap and Pete served as my companions and tour guides through the city. I had some places in mind that I desired to visit which I sensed were of a prophetic nature. Our day ended up being a tour of churches. I had no idea we would visit so many, but we ended up stopping at six churches that day. This too was of the Lord.
Just before heading to New York four different people sent me an article written by Sue Bradley titled The Watchmen, 911 and the Harbingers. The entire article can be read at the following link:
http://www.officialdisclosure.com/watchmen.htm
Let me begin by citing a Scripture which is central to this teaching. Consider these words in relation to the events of 9-11 and the response of America’s leaders and citizens.
Isaiah 9:8-13
The Lord sends a message against Jacob, and it falls on Israel. And all the people know it, that is, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart: "The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores have been cut down, but we will replace them with cedars." Therefore Yahweh raises against them adversaries from Rezin, and spurs their enemies on, the Arameans on the east and the Philistines on the west; and they devour Israel with gaping jaws. In spite of all this His anger does not turn away, and His hand is still stretched out. Yet the people do not turn back to Him who struck them, nor do they seek Yahweh of hosts.
This passage describes a situation that has been playing out in America in recent days. Solomon declared the following:
Ecclesiastes 1:9
That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun.
Although Isaiah wrote of an occurrence that occurred in Israel many centuries ago, that which has been is being replayed again. Why? Because men do not learn from history.
Ecclesiastes 1:11
There is no remembrance of earlier things; And also of the later things which will occur, there will be for them no remembrance among those who will come later still.
I remember right after 9-11 there arose talk of replacing the fallen towers with an even larger tower. The World Trade Towers were over 1,350 feet high. The building to replace it is slated to be 1,776 feet high. Interestingly, while I was in New York the news reported that the name of the building has been changed from the Freedom Tower to One World Trade Center. While I was there the foundation and first ten stories were seen rising from the space formerly occupied by the former towers. At the same time the G-20 summit was being held, and truly the foundation is being laid in this meeting and at this hour for a One World financial system that will usher in a One World government. We live in truly historic times of which the Bible has much to say.
Back in 2001 I remember thinking that America was not producing the response God sought. Rather than repentance and humility there was boasting that she would come back better, stronger and taller than ever. The words of the Israelite people recorded by Isaiah were being repeated by those in America.
"The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores have been cut down, but we will replace them with cedars."
The article by Sue Bradley points out that these precise words have been uttered many times by the leading men of America. Because these men do not know the Scriptures and have no memory of history, they have cited the words of Isaiah, not knowing that the words they are quoting are those of arrogance that God judged by sending even more severe judgment.
[Begin excerpt]
On Wednesday, September 12, 2001, as a transfixed nation and world waited and wondered. Expectation was high for answers and outrage: it came in through the airwaves in the Joint Response of the Nation on the Senate floor in Washington, DC. Representing the Congress and the nation and by authority as majority leader, Senator Tom Daschle addressed the world.
Recorded in the Federal Register, the words of Senator Daschle for the Joint Resolution of Condemnation for the attacks the morning of September 12th, 2001 can be read as they had been spoken:
“Mr. President, it is with pain, sorrow, anger, and resolve that I stand before this Senate, a symbol for 212 years of the strength of our democracy, and say that America will emerge from this tragedy, as we have emerged from all adversity, united and strong…
….The world should know that the Members of both parties in both Houses stand united. The full resources of our Government will be brought to bear in aiding the search and rescue and in hunting down those responsible and those who may have aided or harbored them.
Nothing, nothing can replace the losses that have been suffered. I know there is only the smallest measure of inspiration that can be taken from this devastation. But there is a passage in the Bible, from Isaiah, that I think speaks to all of us at times such as this:
The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.
That is what we will do. We will rebuild and we will recover. The people of America will stand strong together because the people of America have always stood together. And those of us privileged to serve this great Nation will stand with you...”
Of over 31,000 verses in Scripture, the Isaiah 9:10 verse would become, for those in governmental authority, the flagship verse of the Nation and be specifically spoken by four other prominent politicians [that are in public record and related to this event].
The more esoterically inclined might find the use of five “We Will’s” as an echo and progression of the five, “I Will’s” of Isaiah 14…but this context is at the fall of Lucifer, before the creation of Adam, and before the enmity of the seeds of Genesis 3:14.
In the years following the 2001 event, each of the five leaders in the line of Presidential Succession for the former and current administrations would follow the resolve of the majority leader’s precedent with a pledge to rebuild from this event...
A haunting undertone is found in the 1851 English Translation of the Greek Septuagint by Sir Lancelot C.L. Brenton translates Isaiah 9:10:
The bricks are fallen down, but come, let us hew stones, and cut down sycamores and cedars, and let us build for ourselves a tower...
On the day of the 911 tragedy, Rudy Guiliani, the mayor of New York City punctuated the resolve of the city. "We will rebuild: We're going to come out of this stronger than before, politically stronger, economically stronger. The skyline will be made whole again."
Seton Hall University Professor A.D. Amar described the devastation as, “A scene that no movie has captured,” correctly determining that, “America will rise out of it. We will build new Towers, larger than the ones we lost to these cowards...”
[End Excerpt]
Incredibly, the very events spoken of by Isaiah have been acted out in a profound parable. Even as Israel boasted of rebuilding with hewn stone, the Freedom Tower was begun with a dedication ceremony where a twenty ton block of hewn New York granite was placed on site as a symbolic foundation cornerstone.
New York governor George Pataki presided at the ceremony and spoke the following words:
"Today is indeed, a momentous day. Today we take 20 tons of Adirondack granite - the bedrock of our State - and place it as the foundation, the bedrock of a new symbol of American strength and confidence. Today, we lay the cornerstone for a new symbol of this city and this country and of our resolve in the face of terror. Today we build the Freedom Tower.”
But that is not all. There was also a fulfillment of the boast of Israel that they would replace the fallen Sycamores with Cedar trees. I will quote again from the article by Sue Bradley:
[Begin Excerpt]
On September 11th, a freak event happened in the devastation: a steel beam from the North Tower was hurled from the sky. As the Tower fell, it went through the air and struck down an object: it was a tree.
The next day [when] the people returned to ground zero, they found a tree lying on the ground, pierced by the beam of a falling Tower. There, at Ground Zero was a sycamore tree – struck down… after the tree of Isaiah 9… a harbinger of judgment… ‘the sycamore has fallen’…
…and strange, eerily, the people made a display of it, not realizing what it was in the Bible… and put it on display, its roots exposed… not realizing, as if to draw more attention to the sign. And a sculptor was commissioned to make a cast of it. He poured metal into the cast: he cast it into bronze, the Biblical metal of judgment… an image of the fallen sycamore to be displayed on Wall Street.
The significance of the bronze sycamore root sculpture is chilling. In May, 1792, twenty-four stock brokers met underneath a buttonwood tree, along Wall Street in New York City. The Buttonwood Agreement would be birthed as the golden calf of commerce, the bull of the New York Stock Exchange, but would be delivered, uprooted and cast in bronze.
The buttonwood tree is more familiar as the American sycamore. This memorial on Wall Street would come to represent the riches of a nation uprooted, overturned, judged and displayed in bronze: and yet another idol.

When Cap, Pete and I got off the Subway, our first stop was Ground Zero. We saw the site of the new tower being built, and I was desirous of seeing the place where the sycamore was struck down, and I wanted to view the roots from the tree that were cast in bronze. I told Cap and Pete about this story, and we walked nearby to Saint Paul’s Chapel where the Sycamore was struck down. This church is very symbolic in that it is where George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States. Washington, along with a number of men, spent a couple hours praying in the church after the inauguration, but one must question what God it was they prayed unto.
George Washington was a Freemason. His Masonic apron is visible to this day being on display at the Grand Lodge Museum at the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia.
George Washington’s Masonic Apron
This apron is filled with occult symbols. Notice at the very center of the apron is the Masonic compass and square. They appear as two triangles; one pointing up and one pointing down. These occult symbols are found everywhere that Satan has spread his occult beliefs. (Note that one meaning of the word occult is “to hide or obscure from view.” Satan hides the true meaning of his symbols behind counterfeit explanations.)
Notice the triangles, one pointing up and one pointing down in the following image.
This is a symbol found in Freemasonry called microprosposos/ macroprosposos. It symbolizes the god of light and god of reflections. Freemasonry is Luciferian. At the highest levels the members of Freemasonry understand this, but the lower levels are intentionally deceived as to the actual meaning of the symbols and rituals. The inverted triangles interposed on one another are seen in a myriad of symbols associated with Satan.
The above image is from a manual on magic. The four elements are symbolized by the triangles and when laid atop one another they form the six pointed star which sadly has become associated with Israel, being called the Star of David. There is no Biblical precedent for associating this symbol with either David or Israel, however, there is much precedent for associating it with Satan and the occult beliefs he has always spread among mankind.
Deuteronomy 4:19
And beware, lest you lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them...
Lucifer was called the morning star. He ever seeks to establish his worship among the earth. He even tempted Yahshua to bow down and worship him. How much more will he lead fallen men, either through deceit or enticement, to do the same?
Notice how this same symbol of the inverted triangles appears on the new Freedom Tower/One World Trade Center.
From any angle a person can see the image of the triangles pointing up and down. While at Saint Paul’s Chapel on Manhattan, the first of six churches I visited that day, I also noted another prominent Masonic symbol on the church grounds.
This obelisk (shaft of Bel/Baal) is a symbol widely found on the location of sites dedicated to some Satanic purpose. It is not likely coincidental that the One World Trade Center resembles an obelisk. It will greatly eclipse the largest obelisk found in America, which is the WASHINGTON Monument in Washington, DC.
Why is there so much Masonry associated with the name Washington? Beginnings are important. George Washington was the first President of the United States. It was important to Satan’s purposes that the first President be a Freemason. If you are unfamiliar with America’s Luciferian Foundations, I would recommend the following article.
http://parablesblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/luciferian-foundation-of-america.html
The root of America as a nation was bad. Although there were many believing Christians in this nation, those involved in the formation of the government were Luciferian. The root was bad. This brings us back to the symbol of the sycamore tree that was stricken on the grounds of the very church where George Washington was inaugurated. The tree was uprooted, and someone was inspired to cast the roots in bronze, a metal denoting judgment.
It took some sleuthing, but Pete found out where the bronze roots were on display. They were up the road a ways at Trinity Church. Pete and I posed together there as Cap took our picture.
As you can tell, this was a large tree. When the towers fell, God struck down the sycamore at the very place where George Washington was inaugurated. New York City was the nation’s first capital. I was beginning to see why God had me begin my trip across the nation to warn the saints of the judgment to come by beginning here. Yet there is more. Not only did someone make a bronze cast of the roots, signifying that the roots of this nation were going to be plucked out and Yahweh’s judgment upon the roots exposed, but someone came up with a plan to replace the sycamore with a cedar.
[Begin excerpt
Two years after September 11th …a strange site was seen on Ground Zero, a crane, a different crane, was lowering a different object… the object was being lowered to a place where there had been a hole in the ground, it was being laid over the place where the fallen sycamore tree had been struck down...It would have been natural to replace the sycamore tree with a sycamore tree, but the Scripture says ‘we will replace it with an arez [cedar] tree…The object lowered was an arez tree, a conifer tree, the same as the cedar of Lebanon…
Cedar being placed at Saint Paul’s Chapel
Now that would be enough, but there’s actually more:
…In Hebrew parallelism…a verse is often matched with a verse that rhymes in thought and so it matches the fallen bricks and the fallen sycamore together and they were both found the day after 911 in the ruins.
And then there are the two others, which are the cedar tree and the hewn stone. They are together because they both are lowered by cranes, they both had a ceremony surrounding them… they both labeled these icons: one was called the “Freedom Stone,” the other was “The Tree of Hope.”
[At] the ceremony, as the tree was coming down to where the sycamore was, there was a clergyman there….he said:
We are gathered here today on holy ground. Ground hallowed by its witness to the dust, and death and destruction of September 11th. The ground is sanctified by our presence here as we dedicate this Tree of Hope in witness the divine within each of us. It replaces a sycamore tree destroyed on September 11th 2001 by the collapsing Towers...
Seven months later, the quarried stone came down on the ruins of Ground Zero….. two months after that was complete, there was a Presidential election and the Democratic candidate for Vice President was John Edwards. He was speaking in Washington DC at a gathering, it was September 11th, the third anniversary of the devastation. And since it was a prayer breakfast he chose a Scripture which he linked to the events of September 11th. These now are his words on September 11th [of 2004]. Listen:
Washington DC. “Good morning. Today on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord’s Word: [Listen] ‘The bricks have fallen, but we will build - with dressed stones: the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place….’
He goes on to say: “Let me show you how we are building and putting cedars in those three hallowed places, the Towers, the Pentagon and the Field. Walk with me through this day and you will see that while those bricks fell and the sycamores cut down, our people are making those cedars rise.”
And he closed with,
“Each time that bell tolls it calls us to a greater purpose. To never forget: it calls us to always remember that when we walk together this day that the cedars will rise and the stones will go up.”

People of God, history and Scriptures reveal to us that when Israel made this boast after having received a preliminary judgment from God, the judgments got much worse. Isaiah continues this passage with some very sobering words.
Isaiah 9:14-19
Yahweh cuts off head and tail from Israel, both palm branch and bulrush in a single day. The head is the elder and honorable man, and the prophet who teaches falsehood is the tail. For those who guide this people are leading them astray; and those who are guided by them are brought to confusion. Therefore the Lord does not take pleasure in their young men, nor does He have pity on their orphans or their widows; For every one of them is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth is speaking foolishness. In spite of all this His anger does not turn away, and His hand is still stretched out. For wickedness burns like a fire; It consumes briars and thorns; It even sets the thickets of the forest aflame, and they roll upward in a column of smoke. By the fury of Yahweh of hosts the land is burned up, and the people are like fuel for the fire; No man spares his brother.
Because America has repeated the error of Israel, boasting arrogantly when suffering the judgment of Yahweh, His fierce anger will not turn away. What is coming will be terrible indeed. So what should you do, knowing what is coming?
Zephaniah 2:3
Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the earth who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger.

Listen:

And he closed with,
“Each time that bell tolls it calls us to a greater purpose. To never forget: it calls us to always remember that when we walk together this day that the cedars will rise and the stones will go up.”

Road Signs - Part 2
Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
I have found since I have begun following the Lord wherever He would lead me that His presence has become exceedingly precious to me. When we surrender to be led of the Spirit in all we do, we find that there are few companions along the way. The way of the disciple of Christ is often a lonely path.
There are many examples from Scripture that give testimony of the lonely aspect of following Christ. He is our pattern man, and He also had to walk alone. In the moment of His greatest crisis and distress the Lord longed for a friend to stay awake to provide some comfort and fellowship, yet Peter, James and John all fell asleep.
Matthew 26:40
And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?”
The apostle Paul also had a moment of darkness when he was hard pressed and none stood with him.
II Timothy 4:16-17
At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me...
Because the Lord experienced the pain of standing all alone at Gethsemane when His soul was crushed to the point of death, He is extremely compassionate to us in our trials. He has been tested in all ways as we are. Yahshua did not abandon Paul in his our of testing. He neither slumbers, nor sleeps. His eye is ever upon His saints.
God often gives us companions to walk with, even as Christ had twelve disciples, and Paul had traveling companions on his journeys. Yet both of these men found that a time came when they were all alone. Companions do fail us. Christ’s fell asleep and Paul said his abandoned him.
I was thinking of my own journey as I was traveling to New York from Georgia. God has given me companions along the way, yet quite often I have found myself alone for various reasons. When I was about 500 miles into the trip, and driving through the mountains in the middle of the night, my senses were alert to how the van was doing mechanically. I think perhaps the Lord allowed me to be tested a bit, and I noticed something occurring with the transmission which had just been rebuilt before I left. Whether it was abnormal or not, I could not tell, but thoughts of the transmission encountering problems so far from home entered my mind.
I think the Lord allowed me to be tested in this way that I might become more aware of His presence with me. I began praying to the Lord and confessing that I did not know if there was a problem or not, but I did know that God had directed me to go to New York, and I was on my way in obedience to Him. I knew that whatever might happen with the van, that God was with me, and He would have some provision.
Right at that moment God sent me a sign that greatly comforted me. You would have to know the background to understand it. For many months God has been speaking to my friend and brother in Christ Randy Simmons whenever he sees a truck from Covenant Transport. This is a Christian company, and Randy has often seen these trucks just when he was struggling with the promises of God which have often been delayed. God has used the name on these trucks to declare that He is faithful, and what He has said, He will accomplish. His word is His covenant, and if we will simply believe and follow where He leads, He will be faithful to fulfill all.
I had not seen a single one of these trucks on my trip, but at that very moment as I was driving along in the dark with my attention focused on the sounds and functioning of the van, praying to the Lord, I looked beside me and there was a truck bearing the name Covenant Transport.
The Spirit of Christ used this occurrence at that exact moment to reassure me that He was with me and He would get me to my destination. I know that the Scripture is true, “Man's steps are ordered by the Lord” (Proverbs 20:24). It was the Lord who put that truck beside me at that very moment, and my mind relaxed as a result. The van has been driving wonderfully.
The next day, as I was now over 800 miles from Georgia, a sense of loneliness came over me. I had left all companions and familiar places behind. I was driving with New York City as my goal, not particularly relishing driving through the press of traffic there, and I began reflecting on how I was once more alone. I spent a few minutes speaking to the Lord about it. Yahshua sent His disciples out in pairs, but those with whom the Lord paired me were often dealing with stresses of their own that led them to not relish the journey.
I was not complaining to the Lord about the fact that I was traveling alone. I considered my isolation, knowing that the Father had ordered my steps, and He had some purpose in my experiencing these things. At that moment the Spirit prompted me to look at my trip odometer that I had set when I began my journey in Georgia. At that very moment it read 888 miles.
The number 888 is the gematria value of the name of Christ in Greek. The English name Jesus in the Greek language is Iesous. Each Greek letter is also a number, and the value of the characters in the name Iesous come to the sum of 888.
The Spirit spoke to me as I looked at the odometer and assured me that I was not alone on this trip, but that Yahshua was with me. Through the course of my travels I have continued to receive this witness.
Last Thursday I went with two men from Long Island into Manhattan for the day. One of them took the following picture of me while in the city.
God gives us encouragement along the way. There have been many proofs of His presence with me on this trip. I experienced another one bearing the number 888 as I left Schenectady, New York on Sunday and began driving toward Indiana. I prayed and asked the Lord to let me know where He would have me stop. I did not know if He would have me get a campsite, or get a hotel room. I just left the matter in His hands.
I was in Western Pennsylvania in the late afternoon when the Spirit told me I had gone far enough for the day. I saw I was approaching the town of Brookville, PA and there were gas stations, restaurants and hotels there. I pulled into a Truckstops of America to get gas and then asked the Lord where He would have me to stay. I noticed that right next to the truck stop was a Super 8 motel. I had recently acquired a Verizon wireless air card for my laptop computer which allows me to access the Internet from practically everywhere, so I got online and checked the hotel rates in Brookville. The Super 8 was actually the best deal I saw.
That evening as I was in my hotel room, I received an e-mail from a sister in Christ. She mentioned that she knew I was not traveling alone, for Christ was traveling with me. My attention was then drawn to the phone number for the Super 8 motel chain which was on the room ticket they gave me. The number is (800) 800-8000.
One thing I have found to be true is that when we walk alone with the Lord down paths that few others are walking, He supplies us with a greater grace. I know that during the past ten years I have been led to walk in places that the majority of Christians have not walked. Because I have followed the Lord alone much of the time, He has given me a greater grace. I have truly known His presence and encouragement in an abundance of ways. He is truly compassionate to those who walk lonely paths.
I know from the correspondence I receive that many who read these posts also are walking lonely paths. If you are doing so in obedience to Christ, then I am confident that He is also abundantly present with you. I am sure that we often fail to recognize His presence because we are not recognizing how precisely He orders our steps.
Yesterday I received a very encouraging witness from the Lord. I had gotten back on the Interstate in Brookville, PA to complete my trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana. I contacted three people in the Fort Wayne area before leaving to arrange a meeting for Thursday. I was not sure where I would stay until the meeting, but I was looking forward to a few days when I could attend to e-mail and writing some posts for the blog.
The Ohio state line was about a hundred miles away, so I prayed to the Lord about the matter of where I should stay. I knew there would be a rest area just over the state line, so I asked the Lord to let me know when I got there where I should stay. I had stayed in the home of Andrew Eberly during my previous trip to Fort Wayne last year. He was no longer living in the home, but still owned it, and was in fact scheduled to sell the home in a couple weeks.
I told the Lord that if I heard from Andy that I would stay there, otherwise I would call the Super 8 reservation line and make a reservation in Fort Wayne. I had received other invitations, but I sensed that I needed some time alone to tend to writing.
When I arrived at the rest area I checked my e-mail, and I received a confirmation from Andy for our Thursday meeting, which would be held at his home. There was nothing else, so I called Super 8. I gave them all my information and was waiting patiently for the young lady to give me my conformation number when she came back on with an apologetic voice and said her computer had crashed and she did not know if the reservation had gone through. When her computer was back up she informed me that it had not gone through. A moment later Andy called in on my phone to invite me to stay in his vacated home in Fort Wayne. He said the efficiency apartment was still furnished and the power and hot water were on.
Such events are very precious, giving us an assurance that we are on the right track. When we walk alone the Lord does give us a greater grace and many encouraging signs along the way.
If you find yourself walking apart from earthly companions, know that there is a divine companion who will never fail you or forsake you. He knows the grief of walking alone, and He will not be lacking in supplying encouragement to His sons and daughters who follow in His steps.
