Because of the many Scriptures that ...Dear Sister,

Because of the many Scriptures that testify that the dominion of the Law over man has ended when one is joined to Christ, those who want to argue for a continuance have to present some argument to support their position. One of the chief methods is to divide the Law into various parts and say some are in force, while others have ceased.

Another similar argument concludes that the Law the apostles referred to as ending is merely the talmudic laws added by men, and not the Laws given to Moses.

A careful examination of Scriptures reveals that Paul was indeed talking of the Law Yahweh gave to Moses, which included the moral laws, even the ten commandments. Let me give you an example in support of this.

Paul writes:

Romans 7:7
What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "You shall not covet."

What Law is Paul speaking about. This is the moral Law that many say was never annulled. One of the ten commandments states, "Thos shalt not covet..."

Paul has clearly identified that the Law he is speaking of is that body of Laws Yahweh delivered to Moses at Mount Sinai. In the verse preceding this Paul writes:

Romans 7:6
But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

What Law have we been released from? It is the Law that says "Thou shalt not covet..." It is the ten commandments, and all the other Laws moral, dietary, and ceremonial that were delivered to Moses.

Those who want to argue that Paul was not speaking of the moral Laws are not rightly dividing the word of God.Joseph Herrinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14729899526301330525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6945380218619316662.post-69004697934859427322011-01-18T14:20:05.519-05:002011-01-18T14:20:05.519-05:00Thank you for being obedient to post this. My husb...Thank you for being obedient to post this. My husband and I have recently read "Laying Down the Law" on your website and have been having several discussions with others about this. It keeps coming up in our lives and has been heavy on our hearts. Sunday evening you posted the Preamble on your blog and I was overfilled with joy!

Can you please explain how Christians are breaking up the Law by naming sections of it, such as- the "moral law", "dietary laws", "ceremonial laws". Is this biblical? I've heard many, many Christians over the years profess the "other laws" are void, but the believer is still under the "moral law or Ten Commandments". But I have come to the conclusion through the teaching of the Spirit in my life and through the teaching in the Word that the ministry of the Spirit is what guards our hearts- our motive is not "thou shall not" but because the fruits of the Spirit cause us to obey the 10 Commandments through love- through the Ministry of the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:4-11.

This dividing up the Law is dangerous and deceptive. It severs the Head of Christ from the believer by making obedience to the 10 Commandments the motive to obedience and obeying out of duty and not because of the love of Christ constrains our hearts and HE is our Life. Can you please explain this in further detail? I've been very burdened by this in the last few weeks.

Thanks, a sister in Christ.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
